One out of every six UK drivers confess to being bad drivers – Automotive Blog

Alarming Poll Reveals 15% of Drivers Admit They’re Bad Drivers

Are you a good driver? Or do you fall into the 15% of motorists who admit they are bad drivers, with 4% even confessing they are a danger on the roads? A recent poll has shed light on the reasons behind poor driving habits, with too many cars on the road, small parking spaces, and distractions being among the top culprits.

It’s not just external factors that contribute to bad driving, as the survey also revealed that some drivers blame their cars for their lack of skills. From not having blind spot detection to inadequate reversing cameras, it seems that some motorists are quick to shift the blame away from themselves.

But perhaps the most concerning finding is that more than half of drivers admit to having had an accident due to lack of concentration. With distractions such as smartphones and passengers in the car, it’s no wonder that accidents happen.

Interestingly, a fifth of drivers feel nervous when they have passengers in their car, with some even having friends and family who refuse to ride with them due to their questionable driving skills. This highlights the importance of being a safe and competent driver, not just for your own sake but for the safety of others as well.

So, what can be done to improve driving skills and make our roads safer? According to the survey, many drivers wish their cars had more advanced safety features to help them on the road. From forward collision warning technology to attention monitoring sensors, these tools could potentially prevent accidents and save lives.

Ultimately, it’s up to each individual driver to take responsibility for their actions behind the wheel. Whether it’s improving your concentration, practicing defensive driving techniques, or investing in a safer vehicle, there are steps you can take to become a better driver.

As George Wallis, Head of Marketing at Isuzu UK, aptly puts it, “With over 50 million drivers in Great Britain, it is worrying to think that as many as 7.5 million consider themselves bad drivers.” Let’s strive to be part of the majority of safe and competent drivers on the road, rather than adding to the statistics of accidents and near misses.
